Firewagon Hockey

Here is the perfect example of the type of words I am looking for and that i could use a little help on. Firewagon Hockey. Those of us who know hockey realize that it means a certain style of hockey that has everything to do with offense and little attention paid to defense. It was started in the 1950's by the Montreal Canadiens and other teams like Detroit known for their high scoring talents and was more widely used to define the style of play during the 1980s.

But what i want to know is where the term Firewagon comes from and what the heck does it mean exactly. In my mind i am picturing a bunch of prairie settlers running for their lives out of a burning wagon. Please tell me I am wrong!!!!!

Cheers,

Mr h
